  My first visit to Shirahama (), Osaka – June 2008
       
I just came back from Kansai for a five-day package tour. The cities of Osaka and Kyoto would be very impressed by many tourists. The shopping areas, like Shinsaibashisuji, Namba and Dotonbori, must be very familiar with those who are fancy in Japanese fashion, food or even their culture. That's why I don't want to share about these cities here. The place I'd like to highlight is Shirahama. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to be far away from the bustling city life, but like to have a peaceful and relaxing holiday.
     
There are two ways to Shirahama. You may either go by JR (Japan Railway). It costs about 5,700 yen for a single journey from Namba Station or you may choose the cheapest way to go, which is by coach. It costs 5,000 yen for a round trip. It won’t be difficult to find the Bus Terminal. First of all, get off at Namba Station of Osaka City Subway "Midousuji-Line", "Yotsubashi-Line" (both north exit) "Sennichimae-Line" (west exit) and Kintetsu Line (west exit) to find OCAT (Osaka City Air Terminal). Walking through "Namba walk" & "OCAT Walk" (both are underground walk connected to the stations), you may get to OCAT within 10 - 15 minutes from each of the stations. Go to the second floor to find "" where you may buy the ticket to Shirahama. The journey takes you 2.5 to 3 hours.

  Shirahama is a resort town and is famous for the great hot springs. Many hot springs can be found in Shirahama. There is also a nice beach with fantastic view. The sand is very soft and clean. It is so romantic to walk along the beach with your beloved one. The place I like most is Tore Tore Fish Market (). There are many stalls to shop around. You may have the chance to see the worker demonstrate how to tear apart the giant Tuna (about 60 to 65 kilograms each) within ten to fifteen minutes. The fish is so fresh for sashimi, for any sashimi fans this is the place you can't miss.
